Ava's Turn

I didn't think it through that Ava would need her own post in order to enter challenges.  Here is Ava's card!

She entered the TCPTues299 ChallengeAnd The Sweet Sunday Sketch 287

For details on supplies used, (and all of my witty banter), please refer to the

Thank you for taking a peek at Ava's card!  I know she loves to see your comments!

Be Brave And Color On

Hello Again!

I took the summer off to spend quality time with my family, and then get everyone, (including myself!), back on track this fall.

I finally sat down with my daughter this week to do some coloring.  Oh my.  There are a few cobwebs still lingering over in the creative corner of my brain! Coloring wasn't really the problem.  Coming up with a card.....that was a bit of a hurdle.

Last May, Ava (8 yrs old) entered a card challenge at The Cat's Pajamas.  She won the challenge!  Here she is with the stamp set she purchased with her gift certificate!
She and I decided to enter a challenge at TCP using her new set! We entered the TCPTues299 Challenge.
I truly feel that she was the creative one this time.  I like her card better than mine!  We chose to use the layout, and enter the  Sweet Sunday Sketch #287.

You be the judge!  I won't be offended if you choose Ava's.  Heck, I did!  :)

Here is Ava's Card:

She did this all by herself!  I did help with the fussy cutting, but that's it!  She chose the paper, she colored, she chose the shapes, EVERYTHING!  I love it!
Ava used:
Be Brave Stamp Set by  The Cat's Pajamas
A paper pad called "Blue Hill" that we were given, and I no longer has the outer package, so I don't know who made it!
Circle Stackables Dies by Lawn Fawn
Die-Namics Grassy Edges by My Favorite Things

Here is mine:

I went more with a lion "costume" for my bear.  I'm trying not to be too hard on myself, as this was the first card in months!  I need to get back on track!  I do so love my craft time!
I used:
Be Brave Stamp Set by TCP
Same Blue Hill paper pad that I don't know the company.
Flower Nesting Dies by Xcut
Some jeweled embellies by Michael's

I Made A Card Too! TCPTues293

While teaching my daughters to color with Copics, I used the "Peeking" stamp from The Cat's Pajamas RS.  If I am going to color a stamp, I should make a card and enter a challenge too, right?
I thought so!

I had fun teaching my girls, and got a card made to boot!  I call that a productive Sunday!

Coloring Lessons and Challenges on a Sunday

My girls, 8 & 11 yrs old, have been begging me to teach them to color with my Copics.  They have a grandfather with a birthday coming up, so I thought it was a good learning opportunity.  Both girls wanted to enter challenges.
They were such good students!  I had them pick paper and stamps that they liked.  They listened, and were very gentle with my Copics.  I am so so so proud of their finished cards!  They did them ALL by themselves!  The only thing I did for my 8 yr old was fussy cut!

My 8 yr old, Ava, entered the TCPTues293 Color Inspiration Challenge.

She created the layout all on her own.  She decided every single detail.  I was so proud of her!

My 11 yr old, Anika, entered the YNS Sketch and Color Challenge #17.

How could I not be proud of my girl?  It's hard to see, but she paper pieced the stars on the banner.  She wanted to try all the techniques she had seen me use before.  I let her pick the colors and the papers.  She fussy cut all by herself.  She is so happy with this card!

I am tickled that my girls want to color with me.  Now, I hope that they want to pick up the mess with me too!  ;)

YNS Sketch Challenge #16 & SPD Creative Color Challenge #2

Did you ever have one of those times when you knew you really didn't have time to sit and make a card......but then you saw it......that sketch challenge that you had the PERFECT stamp set for?  Yup.  That happened to me.  I am in the midst of reorganizing my kitchen, top to bottom, (go ahead, say it, I'm crazy for taking on big projects while the kids are home on break.)  Oh yeah, did I mention that the kids are home on summer break?  Goodbye normal routine!  Anyhoo, I was browsing the YNS blog, and BOOM! POW! WHAM! It hit me like a Super Punch!  The sketch challenge #16, PLUS the My Hero stamp set from SugarPea Designs would go together like Batman and Robin!

I LOVED the idea of helping our hero keep his secret identity hidden.  I think I've seen a play on this layout before, and it really stuck with me.
My Dad's birthday is in a few weeks, and I can't wait to see what he thinks of this card!  I hope he thinks it's SUPER!

BIG Challenge for a 75th Birthday! and Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 273

I was so flattered when a friend asked me to make a birthday card for her mother's 75th birthday.  Then, I will confess, I panicked a little.  This was the first time that I was making a card to someone else's specifications.  I am so glad I did it though!

The first challenge?  She wanted a GIANT card!  It's her Mom's 75th birthday, and she wanted to go big.  I had her go to the Tiddly Inks store and pick out a digi stamp.  I laughed when she did, because she picked out a bear with balloons.  I had NEVER colored fur or balloons before!!  YouTube became my best friend for a few days, as I binge watched tutorials!

I am actually pretty proud of my first attempt at both fur and balloons.

The birthday girl's favorite color is purple.  I went to Michael's and purchased some coordinating 12x12 purple paper.

I put the card on foam board, because it is so big.  It will be easier to display at a birthday party that way.

I used a challenge at Sweet Sunday Sketch for the layout.  I am pretty pleased with the result.  I had my 8 yr old hold the card, to show it's true size.

Happy Graduation!

I can't wait to send this card to a special graduate!  Her Mom and I were in a card club together.  We had no idea about Copics and coloring.  It was just a group of ladies that would gather once a month and make enough cards to swap.  Many babies and jobs later, and we all haven't gathered in a long time.  Such a long time, in fact, that I cannot BELIEVE that her daughter is graduating high school!

Samantha's favorite color was always purple.  And, I am pretty sure that teal is a favorite in her house as well.  So, the Creative Colors Challenge this week was perfect timing!

I am also a big fan of Freshly Made Sketches, because I tend to lean towards CAS cards.  And, this is my SECOND attempt at a digi stamp from Tiddly Inks.  I love Wryn.  She makes me smile every time I look at any of her poses!

I hope this makes the special graduate smile.  :)
