Keeping It In The Family

Today, I would like to introduce you to my youngest artist, Ava, age 8.  My girls have been asking me to teach them how to color with my Prismacolor Pencils.  They have been watching me enter sketch challenges, and have asked me to help them enter their own creations.

Ava decided to enter SugarSketch 18 over at SugarPea Designs.  I showed her the sketch and then she took it from there. She chose to use the darling "Tweet Friend" from SPD.  She colored the image using Prismacolor Pencils.  For the layout, she selected paper from the "This & That" 6x6 pad from Echo Park Paper.  Ava chose to embellish her card using Die-namics "Grassy Edges" from MFT, and SugarCuts "Heart Journal Card" die from SPD.

I am so very proud of her!  She wanted to do it all on her own!  I feel that she did a great job, as an 8-yr-old, picking out colors and doing the layout!

As you can see below, she is proud of herself too!

Now I think I need to get on the ball, and enter a card of my own!!!

  1. You go, GIrl! Ava - you are a great, creative card-maker! It was fun to see your card. Your coloring is so pretty! I noticed how you colored her hair with different shades of brown! It makes it look so alive. I love the way you layered your hearts, too. You did such a wonderful job using the SugarPea sketch on your card! Thanks for using one of our stamps, too! I hope to see you play again and can't wait to see what your mom makes! Keep smiling that gorgeous smile! Cathy - ProjectPea DT member
